Residents of Baldwin County who own dogs may be in for a big shock next year when they receive their local tax bills. A new ordinance is set to go into effect next year to charge a partial property tax to dogs who urinate on land, legally claiming it as their territory, and since dogs don't typically have People Money, that tax will be applied to the owner's taxes owed. In the Single Tax Colony areas of the Fairhope District, however, the dog's ownership of territory will only be in effect for 100 Dog Years, just as Henry George intended.
